RQiS 1 Tour XL Tennis Racquet
Tennis Magazine Review
Compare to: Yonex RQiS 1 Tour
How it tested: Advanced-player frames from Yonex tend to be underpowered and emphasize control and feel. What’s nice about the RQiS 1 Tour XL 95 is it gives you a little more pop than you would typically expect from a Yonex player racquet without sacrificing much in the other categories. Make no mistake, this is far from a power frame. You have to take an aggressive cut and find the small sweet spot to drive the ball, but it’s not point over if you don’t. The lighter G model has a near-even balance and provides more pop for players who need help putting the ball away. The heavier HG is exceptionally head light to compensate for the added weight, which actually gives the frame the lower swingweight of the two. Still, both are relatively easy to maneuver yet maintain a good amount of stability. Playtesters said the frame performed equally well at the baseline, with its exceptional control, and the net, where the handling and touch stood out.
Playtester comments: “A crafty player would enjoy this”; “The type of feedback you’d expect from a player’s frame”; “Lacking power on serves”; “A smidge heavy.”
Bottom line: An asset for shot-making all-courters who provide their own power.
The Yonex RQiS series offers incredible snap-back action which stores energy on impact and then releases it with power and speed leading to a higher level of impact speed. CS Carbon Nanotube has been adopted to further increase the impact speed. Racquet choice of Lleyton Hewitt, the RQiS 1 is a mid-sized RQ Tour model which helps players produce winners.
Impact Speed: A snap-back action which stores energy on impact, then releases it with tremendous power and speed. The new material, Cup-Stack Carbon Nanotube, was adopted in these racquets to lead the ball to accelerate faster on each serve or return shot.
Cup-Stack Carbon Nanotube: Incorporated into the racquet frame, it provides all players the right amount of flex to stay with the ball and quick repulsion to make the full energy available for powerful returns.
Elastic Ti: Elastic Ti delivers the performance players have long wanted in a frame - high elasticity and high strength together. Titanium fibers in the shaft flex and snap back to their original shape a split second after impact and deflection with high accuracy and the with the full energy of the swing. It provides enhanced feel and an ultra efficient energy transfer.
Isometric Head Shape: Allows for more strings of equal length and a larger effective hitting area in the stringbed. Power, control and a huge sweet spot without increasing frame dimensions. With more strings of equal length and a larger effective hitting area in the string bed, it provides consistently more accurate shots with more power and control.
