Yonex RQiS 1 Tour Tennis Racquet

Tennis Magazine Review

SALES PITCH
A flexible and extremely maneuverable frame used by Lleyton Hewitt and Ana Ivanovic.

HOW IT TESTED
Looks are deceiving when it comes to the RQiS 1 Tour. The beam width around the head is surprisingly wide for a player’s frame, giving the impression that the racquet will pack a serious punch. But it’s more like a controlled jab, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if your playing style revolves around consistency. Most of the power on shots with the RQiS 1 Tour will have to come from the player. But the frame is extremely head light, making it easy to swing fast. That, along with an open string pattern (16x18), will help you generate spin. The lack of power at net wasn’t a huge issue for our testers. They liked the control and feel they got on volleys and the maneuverability on quick exchanges. The racquet drew similar responses on serves as on ground strokes—great spin and control, but not enough juice.

BOTTOM LINE
Accomplished all-court players will find the control and spin they need, as long as they’re generating lots of power.

The Yonex RQiS series offers incredible snap-back action which stores energy on impact and then releases it with power and speed leading to a higher level of impact speed. CS Carbon Nanotube has been adopted to further increase the impact speed. Racquet choice of Lleyton Hewitt, the RQiS 1 is a mid-sized RQ Tour model which helps players produce winners.

Impact Speed: A snap-back action which stores energy on impact, then releases it with tremendous power and speed. The new material, Cup-Stack Carbon Nanotube, was adopted in these racquets to lead the ball to accelerate faster on each serve or return shot.

Cup-Stack Carbon Nanotube: Incorporated into the racquet frame, it provides all players the right amount of flex to stay with the ball and quick repulsion to make the full energy available for powerful returns.

Elastic Ti: Elastic Ti delivers the performance players have long wanted in a frame - high elasticity and high strength together. Titanium fibers in the shaft flex and snap back to their original shape a split second after impact and deflection with high accuracy and the with the full energy of the swing. It provides enhanced feel and an ultra efficient energy transfer.

Isometric Head Shape: Allows for more strings of equal length and a larger effective hitting area in the stringbed. Power, control and a huge sweet spot without increasing frame dimensions. With more strings of equal length and a larger effective hitting area in the string bed, it provides consistently more accurate shots with more power and control.
