K Factor KSix-One 95 Racquet Review
The new Wilson K Six-One 95 racquets are the #1 choice among Wilson touring pros. It’s also a 2007 update of Wilson's most popular players' racquet. There are three versions: the bread-and-butter standard length version with the original Pro Staff 6.1 95 18x16 stringing pattern, a more control-oriented adaptation with a denser 18x20 string pattern, and a half inch longer version with the 18x16 pattern.
The new K versions offer the traditional strengths of Wilson's 6.1 racquets: stability, ease-of-use, and power superior to most other players' frames. It is a proven recipe that is versatile enough to suit weekend warriors and pro tour jetsetters alike.
Wilson's [K]arbon Black frame brings new refinement to this classic design. The throat of the new K's has a more flexible feel. The overall shot response also takes a step away from the damped character of the
nCodes, trading a small amount of comfort for feedback. This tuning makes the K SixOne 95 a little better suited to serious players.
At the courts, our intermediate play testers with full strokes liked the easy-to-use power of the K SixOne 95 frames. The power was predictable and easy to control. Players found it easy to transition from defensive stroking to offense.
On the topic of offense, no racquet of similar dimensions will do more for your serve and overhead than the Wilson K SixOne 95. It’s especially potent hitting flat serves and other aggressive serves that use lots of pace. Just don't aim too close to the lines.
For some big hitters, the power of the K SixOne 95 may be too much of a good thing on returns and short balls. The K SixOne 95's power advantage comes at the price of some precision. It’s one of the least accurate racquets marketed as a control frame, though it still has more control than most 'tweeners.
Power combined with the K SixOne 95's other good qualities is what makes this racquet an extremely popular alternative to a no-compromise control frame. It's friendly enough for a junior or adult intermediate that wants to transition into their first players' frame; trusted enough to be the #1 Wilson frame on the pro tour.
